Father’s Last Phone Call...Young Woman’s Shocking Decision

A young woman from Prem Nagar in Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly jumped into the Chenab River from a bridge on Sunday. According to police, Payal Devi had gone to a local fair before calling her father and telling him that she was unwell and was going to see a doctor. After the doctor was reportedly unavailable, she began returning home on a motorcycle. Around 2 pm, she asked the rider to stop on the bridge and then moved towards the railing.

The rider alerted Payal’s father, who spoke to her over the phone and tried to persuade her not to take the extreme step. Despite his efforts, she jumped into the river shortly afterwards. Police and rescue teams launched a search operation to locate her and have registered a case. An investigation is underway to determine what led to the incident.
