A massive awareness rally was organised in Hyderabad to spread awareness about HIV, AIDS, syphilis and their prevention and control. Hyderabad In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar flagged off the rally at the HMDA Grounds. Around 1,500 people participated in the march from the HMDA Grounds to Necklace Road Railway Station, spreading messages on HIV and AIDS prevention.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that eliminating misconceptions about HIV and providing accurate information on prevention, testing and treatment is a collective social responsibility. He urged people to support those living with HIV and ensure access to necessary healthcare. He said extensive awareness programmes would be conducted across Telangana for two months from August 12. Under the slogan “Be Positive – Stop HIV Positive,” the government, Health Department and Telangana State AIDS Control Society are working together towards an HIV-free Telangana.
