SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s comments on Starlink’s delayed commercial launch in India have triggered a fresh political and industry debate. Responding to a post calling for Starlink to be made available in India, Musk alleged that some oligarchic forces were preventing the company from entering the Indian market in order to maintain their dominance. He described the situation as a crime against the people of India, but did not identify the individuals or groups he was referring to.
BRS working president KTR reacted to Musk’s remarks on X and asked him to reveal the names of the alleged oligarchs. KTR questioned who has such influence over the Indian government and said that people in India would want to know who these forces are. Starlink is reportedly prepared to begin operations in India, with the company stating that it has developed systems in line with Indian security requirements and established gateway sites and antennas. However, final clearances related to spectrum and security are still required before commercial services can begin. Musk’s remarks have added further interest to the ongoing discussions, although the identity of the alleged forces remains unclear.
