

The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections to fill 24 vacant seats across 10 states. According to the notification, polling will be conducted on June 18, while the official election notification will be issued on June 1. Nominations will be accepted from June 1 to June 8, scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 9, and candidates can withdraw nominations until June 11. Vote counting will also be conducted on June 18, and the entire election process is expected to conclude by June 20.

Among the states, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat will each witness elections for four Rajya Sabha seats, while Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will have three seats each. One seat each will fall vacant in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand. The Election Commission also indicated that by-elections may be held for one seat each in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Reports suggest that out of the 22 retiring MPs, 11 belong to the BJP while four are from the Congress party.
