Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao said vegetable cultivation in Telangana has declined significantly, from around three lakh acres in the past to just 50,000 acres currently. Speaking in the Assembly, he said the government was taking steps to increase vegetable cultivation. He added that collective efforts and a unified approach could bring about meaningful changes in the agriculture sector.
The minister said the Centre had been requested to provide subsidies on pesticides used for controlling pests. He alleged that the previous government had failed to properly utilise central schemes. Tummala Nageswara Rao said the state government would take all necessary steps to promote and expand vegetable cultivation across Telangana.
