Economic Times Praises Chandrababu’s Water Initiatives

Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu moved a resolution congratulating Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Leadership Conclave, referring to The Economic Times article titled ‘CEO CM to Waterman’. The resolution highlighted Chandrababu’s contribution to the IT revolution in undivided Andhra Pradesh and his efforts to create global opportunities for Telugu youth. It said he later shifted his focus towards irrigation projects and earned recognition as a ‘Waterman’. According to the minister, the Economic Times highlighted projects aimed at providing water to different regions, including Rayalaseema and North Andhra. He said the article also referred to the Pattiseema project, which supplied water to the delta region before the completion of Polavaram, and the Handri-Neeva project for Rayalaseema.

The minister said Chandrababu had set the completion of irrigation projects as a key policy priority, with the aim of bringing around two crore acres under cultivation out of nearly four crore acres of land in Andhra Pradesh. He said the Economic Times praised efforts to realise the three-decade-old Veligonda project and highlighted the rapid completion of the Polavaram Left Main Canal to take Godavari water up to Anakapalli. The article also referred to the target of completing Polavaram before the 2027 Pushkarams and the plan to complete 36 irrigation projects at an estimated cost of ₹35,000 crore over the next three years. The minister said the Chief Minister was also focusing on increasing groundwater levels through initiatives such as Jaladhara. Ministers, MLAs, MPs and other leaders later gave Chandrababu a standing ovation in support of the resolution.
