ECI Extends SIR Deadlines in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya

The Election Commission of India has extended the timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Meghalaya. In Andhra Pradesh, the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections, which began on July 31, will continue until October 10, while the final electoral rolls will be published on October 16. The decision was taken at a meeting of the full Election Commission at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi attended the meeting. It was the second meeting of the full Commission in five days. The extension provides additional time for the ongoing SIR process and related claims and objections in the two states.
