Drone–Aircraft Collision Near JFK Airport Causes Sensation

A major aviation accident was narrowly avoided in the United States after a JetBlue aircraft was struck by a drone near John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The flight, arriving from Las Vegas, was at around 3,000 feet during its landing approach. The aircraft was carrying 159 passengers.

The pilot reported that the drone hit the exterior near the cockpit to air traffic control. The aircraft landed safely without any damage. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation. Officials warned of strict action against unauthorized drone activity in restricted airspace.
