The Andhra Pradesh government has appointed IPS officer Patil Devaraj Muneesh as the investigating officer in the case involving the death of 28-year-old postgraduate medical student Dr Priyanka. Muneesh, who is currently serving as Additional Superintendent of Police in East Godavari district, has been entrusted with the investigation. The government has directed him to complete the probe at the earliest and ensure that legal action is taken against those responsible based on the evidence collected.
According to the government orders, Rajamahendravaram South Zone DSP Shivapriya and Prakash Nagar Police Station Inspector Bajilal will assist the IPS officer in the investigation. Priyanka was pursuing her first-year postgraduate course in Dermatology at GSL Medical College in Rajanagaram. On August 3, she was travelling on a two-wheeler with a fellow student after watching a movie at a mall in Rajamahendravaram when the accident occurred. She sustained serious injuries and was later shifted to a hospital for treatment, but died on August 10. The government’s decision to closely monitor the case has increased attention on the investigation.
