Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign visits have cost the government ₹74.58 crore so far in 2026, the Ministry of External Affairs informed the Rajya Sabha. The total expenditure on his overseas visits from 2021 to 2026 has crossed ₹550 crore. Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita said some 2026 figures are provisional, while the expenditure for Modi’s June visit to France is still being compiled. The annual expenditure was over ₹36 crore in 2021, ₹55 crore in 2022, ₹93 crore in 2023, ₹109 crore in 2024, ₹180 crore in 2025 and ₹74.58 crore in 2026 so far.

The Centre also said 316 MoUs and agreements had been signed during Modi’s overseas visits since July 2021. These covered defence, trade and investment, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, renewable energy, healthcare, education, agriculture, space cooperation, mobility and migration, climate action and cultural exchanges. Among the 2026 visits for which expenditure has been finalised, the Norway leg of Modi’s five-nation Europe tour recorded the highest cost at ₹17.46 crore.
