District Superintendent of Police K. Chakravarthy inspected the election nomination centres in the Chinturu division on Thursday and reviewed the arrangements for filing nominations. Speaking to the media, he said strict police measures were being implemented across the district to ensure that the local body election nomination process proceeded peacefully and in accordance with the law. He warned that anyone violating election rules would face legal action.
The SP said candidates and their supporters would not be allowed to gather in groups around nomination centres or during the filing process. Only a limited number of accompanying persons, as permitted under the rules (1+2), would be allowed to enter the nomination centre with a candidate. Candidates were advised to coordinate their nomination schedules in advance with local police officials to facilitate security arrangements and traffic management. He also stated that rallies, processions and public meetings must not be held without prior police permission while restrictions remain in force. Anyone taking the law into their own hands or obstructing the nomination process would face criminal cases. Chakravarthy urged candidates, political party leaders and the public to cooperate with the police to ensure a peaceful and transparent election process.
