Disha Salian Death Case: Bombay HC Directs CBI to Register FIR and Conduct Probe

The Bombay High Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR and conduct a comprehensive probe into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, who had worked as the former manager of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The court questioned why the matter had been treated only as an accidental death report despite the family raising suspicions about her death. It also expressed concern over the post-mortem report allegedly not being provided to the family even after several years. The court directed that relevant records from the Malvani police station be handed over to the CBI and made it clear that no person should be treated as an accused unless sufficient evidence emerges against them.

Disha’s father Satish Salian had approached the court with serious allegations, seeking registration of a case and an impartial investigation. The court said political complaints and allegations involving political leaders were not its concern and stressed the need for a lawful, transparent investigation while considering the circumstances and the family’s pursuit of justice. Disha died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a building in Mumbai’s Malad area. Six days later, on June 14, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his residence, leading to widespread speculation and controversy. The Bombay High Court has also clarified that if the CBI submits a negative report, the petitioner will have the right to file a protest petition.
