Telangana DGP CV Anand has directed police officials to make robust security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and immersion processions across the state. He instructed officials to take all necessary precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents. During a video conference with police officials from the SI level and above on Monday, the DGP reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming festivities. Ganesh Chaturthi will be observed on September 14, while immersion processions are scheduled for September 25.
The DGP said a dedicated portal has been introduced to maintain details of Ganesh pandals, organisers and vehicles being used for immersion processions. Station House Officers will be provided with separate login credentials to monitor the situation at pandals regularly. He directed officials to encourage organisers to install CCTV cameras and appoint volunteers, and to geo-tag the pandals and upload their details on the TG-Cop portal. SPs, commissioners and DCPs were asked to hold coordination meetings with festival committees and closely monitor information circulating on social media.
