Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Launches Craft Wood Banks

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan launched Craft Wood Banks aimed at protecting the state’s traditional handicrafts and addressing the shortage of raw wood faced by artisans. He inaugurated the Central Craft Wood Bank at Dhavaleswaram in the Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency and virtually launched wood banks across six major clusters in the state.

The initiative is expected to benefit around 5,000 artisan families by ensuring a steady supply of wood. The Rajamahendravaram Central Craft Wood Bank currently has 30 cubic metres of wood available for artisans, with officials planning to stock enough wood for the next five years. Dedicated wood banks have also been established for Etikoppaka and Kondapalli toy makers, Madhavamala and Shettigunta artisans, and Bobbili Veena craftsmen. Pawan Kalyan interacted with artisans, inspected their handicrafts and used QR codes to check details about the wood and its origin.
