A low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA). The system is currently centred about 50 km from Balasore and nearly 60 km from Chandbali and Digha. It is expected to cross the coast near Balasore within the next 24 hours.
Under the influence of the depression, heavy rainfall is likely at several places across North Andhra Pradesh. APSDMA has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until weather conditions improve, urging residents in coastal areas to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.
