Delhi Police have announced a change in the designated venues for public protests and demonstrations, with Jantar Mantar reportedly removed from the list of approved protest locations. The move marks a change in the arrangements for organising demonstrations in the national capital. According to the announcement attributed to Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, three alternative locations have been identified for protests.
The designated alternatives are Ramlila Maidan, Burari Maidan and CBD Ground in East Delhi. Delhi Police are expected to issue separate guidelines explaining the procedures and conditions for conducting demonstrations at these venues. The new arrangements are intended to establish a framework for managing public gatherings at the identified locations. Further details, including when the new rules will take effect and the conditions for obtaining permission, are awaited.
