Delhi Police have rejected allegations that they failed to inform Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke about his grandmother’s death. Police said they conveyed the news sensitively and offered to help arrange his travel to his hometown for the funeral. A video was released on Sunday to support their account. Deputy Commissioner of Police Neha Yadav presented the footage to the media during a press conference following allegations by Deepke’s mother and similar claims by the party.
Neha Yadav said Deepke was informed about his grandmother’s death and the funeral schedule as soon as the information became available. She added that he was offered assistance to travel home and was allowed to speak with his family, but declined the travel assistance. Deepke was detained aboard an aircraft while travelling to attend a protest at Jantar Mantar. He was subsequently produced before a magistrate and released.
