Delhi High Court Refuses Blanket Ban on Janhvi Kapoor Fan Pages

Actress Janhvi Kapoor has approached the Delhi High Court seeking protection of her personality and image rights, citing alleged misuse of her identity online. During the hearing, her counsel informed the court that offensive comments, abusive content and sexually explicit material allegedly generated using deepfake and artificial intelligence were being circulated online. The legal team also submitted links to several fan pages and around 4,000 websites in support of its concerns.

The Delhi High Court, however, declined to impose a blanket ban on all fan clubs and fan pages associated with the actress. The court observed that not every fan page could be treated as unlawful and noted that some may have been created simply by admirers. It questioned how all fan clubs could be shut down when only specific pages or content might violate the law. The court indicated that action could be considered against content involving obscenity or seriously objectionable material, while stressing that legitimate fan activity cannot automatically be prohibited.
