The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is witnessing a significant surge in passenger traffic during the Dasara festival season. According to the information released by the corporation, around 1.4 crore passenger journeys were recorded in the first three days of the festival rush. TGSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagireddy held a review meeting with officials on Monday to assess crowd management and the operation of additional services. For October 9, 10 and 11, the corporation operated 1,417 special buses, which is 495 more than the 922 additional buses operated during the corresponding period last year.
The state government’s Mahalakshmi scheme, which provides free bus travel to eligible women on designated services, is also delivering substantial savings during the festive period. Women reportedly saved an average of ₹13.73 crore per day during this year’s Dasara rush, compared with ₹13.02 crore per day last year. Nagireddy directed officials to operate additional buses according to demand on October 15, 16 and 17 to help people travelling to their hometowns. Passengers can make advance reservations through the TGSRTC website or contact the call centre at 040-69440000 or 040-23450033 for travel-related information.
