Traffic has increased on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway as people who travelled to their hometowns for the Dasara festival begin returning to Hyderabad. The return journey picked up from Wednesday afternoon, leading to long queues of vehicles at the Pantangi Toll Plaza in Choutuppal mandal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. The toll plaza has 18 booths across both directions. To manage the rush towards Hyderabad, officials have opened 12 booths on the Hyderabad-bound side to process vehicles.
Despite the FASTag system, the heavy volume of traffic has resulted in vehicle queues stretching for around half a kilometre at the toll plaza. Traffic is also moving slowly because underpass construction work is underway in the Chityal and Choutuppal areas. Police personnel and highway staff are regulating vehicle movement to minimise congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow along the route.
