A viral video featuring Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi and Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal has triggered controversy on social media following their appearance at the Kunjapuri Mela in Tehri Garhwal. The incident drew attention after allegations concerning the singer’s condition surfaced online, prompting discussions about the conduct of public figures at religious and cultural gatherings. However, the allegations circulating on social media have not been independently established, and the video alone may not provide the full context of the incident.
According to reports, Minister Subodh Uniyal confronted Daler Mehndi on stage during the performance, questioned his conduct, and asked him to stop singing. The minister reportedly emphasised that the event was part of the Navratri celebrations dedicated to Goddess Durga and that the occasion should be treated with respect. The singer, in turn, reportedly asked the minister to return to his seat. The exchange has since generated debate online about appropriate behaviour at religious events and the responsibilities of performers and public representatives attending such gatherings.
