Cyberabad Police has warned the public about a new wave of cyber frauds being carried out in the name of astrology and tantra services. Cyberabad Cybercrime DCP T. Sai Manohar said fraudsters are using fake advertisements on platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook, claiming to solve financial problems, family disputes, business losses and relationship issues. Initially, victims are charged small amounts to gain trust before being pressured into paying larger sums for so-called rituals and spiritual services.
According to police, cybercriminals operate multiple fake social media accounts and collect personal information from victims by pretending to offer genuine guidance. Once victims become emotionally involved, the fraudsters demand huge payments through third-party bank accounts to hide their identities. In several cases, victims were allegedly threatened with harm or blackmail if they refused to pay. Police advised people not to trust online astrology advertisements, avoid sharing personal details with strangers and immediately report cyber frauds through the helpline number 1930 or the official cybercrime portal.
