C. R. Patil has become the first Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet to voluntarily give up the use of pilot and escort vehicles. Responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal to conserve petrol and diesel amid the ongoing situation in West Asia, Patil announced that he would avoid using convoy vehicles until conditions improve in the region.
The move is being seen as a symbolic yet significant gesture toward fuel conservation and responsible governance. With global fuel concerns rising due to tensions in West Asia, the Union Minister’s decision has drawn attention for setting an example within the government. Political observers believe the step could encourage wider awareness about reducing unnecessary fuel consumption during sensitive global situations.
