Financial difficulties and social challenges could not stop Priyadarshini from pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor. Hailing from Keeramangalam in Tamil Nadu, Priyadarshini is the daughter of Tamil Arasan, a daily-wage cattle rearer, who supported his family with limited income. Witnessing her father’s struggles, Priyadarshini decided at a young age to achieve her goal through education.
A government school student, Priyadarshini completed her studies from Class 6 to Class 12 at Keeramangalam Girls Government Higher Secondary School. Without expensive coaching, she prepared for the NEET examination with dedication and scored 502 marks in the recently announced results. She expressed confidence that the Tamil Nadu government’s 7.5% reservation for government school students would help her secure a medical seat. Her achievement has inspired many rural students and received appreciation from teachers and locals.
