The Hyderabad City Civil Court has issued interim orders directing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi to immediately remove social media posts related to allegations surrounding the procurement of mobile phones for Anganwadi workers. The court passed the orders in a defamation suit filed by Telangana Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka against BRS and its chief K. Chandrashekar Rao. After examining the tender documents, the court reportedly found no evidence supporting the BRS allegation that ₹30 crore corruption had taken place in the procurement process.
According to the court’s observations, the government purchased mobile phones at a cost of ₹11,650 each, amounting to a total expenditure of ₹44.42 crore. However, BRS allegedly spread false claims on social media stating that phones worth ₹8,499 were purchased for ₹14,499. The court agreed with the argument that such allegations were intended to damage Minister Seethakka’s reputation. It directed BRS and KCR to remove the posts uploaded on Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram on April 10. Advocate Naguluri Krishna Kumar appeared on behalf of Seethakka and presented arguments before the court.
