Court Blocks Trump’s Media Ban

U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from barring journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. The judge ordered the immediate restoration of their press credentials for 14 days while the legal challenge continues. The three media organisations had approached the court, arguing that the ban violated their First Amendment protections and due-process rights.

The dispute began after President Donald Trump announced a ban on the three outlets, accusing them of publishing what he described as “fake news.” The administration defended the move in court, arguing that access to the White House is a privilege and citing professionalism and national-security concerns. Judge Kelly, however, said the outlets were likely to succeed in showing that they were not given adequate notice or an opportunity to challenge the decision and expressed skepticism about the national-security argument. Meanwhile, the White House has launched a 24-hour digital stream called “Trump TV: The Essentials Station” on YouTube and its website, featuring Trump administration videos, speeches and highlights.
