Congress Supports TWU in RTC Elections...

The Congress party has announced its full support for the Telangana RTC Workers’ Union (TWU) in the TGSRTC recognised union elections. TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud made the announcement and appealed to party workers and supporters to extend cooperation to the TWU, affiliated with the Congress, at RTC depots across districts, cities and Assembly constituencies. Polling for the TGSRTC recognised union elections is scheduled for October 9, with results to be announced on October 17.

Mahesh Kumar Goud also announced the appointment of TPCC vice-president and former mayor Bonthu Rammohan as the Congress in-charge for coordinating the election process. A preparatory meeting discussed issues concerning RTC employees, their future, protection of working hours and the merger process, among other matters. The recognised union will have the statutory role of representing employees in discussions with the RTC management and government on key workers’ issues.
