Congress Protest Outside CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Residence

Congress workers staged a protest outside Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s ancestral residence in Agra on Monday, amid the party’s demand for his resignation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. During the demonstration, some protesters allegedly smeared black paint on the main gate and wall of the residence and spray-painted slogans targeting the CEC. The protest was part of demonstrations organised by the Congress across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country.

The incident comes amid an intensifying political dispute over the Election Commission’s functioning and the SIR exercise. Reports said protesters raised slogans and put up stickers and pamphlets outside the residence before leaving the spot. Police later reached the location, removed the graffiti and began efforts to identify those involved using photographs, videos and CCTV footage.
