Vigilance and task force officials have launched inspections across Telangana following allegations of large-scale irregularities involving Custom Milled Rice (CMR) paddy and ration rice. Preliminary information suggests that around 42,000 quintals of CMR paddy or ration rice may be unaccounted for. As part of the operation, officials conducted a surprise raid at a rice mill in Ibrahimpatnam and inspected Bharathi Industries in Mothay, Siddipet district. During the inspections, they examined stock records, rice inventories and documents related to the handling of government-procured grain.
Officials reportedly found indications that government rice had been diverted to the black market. Criminal cases have reportedly been registered against the management of Bharathi Industries, while the owners are said to be absconding. Inspections at other rice mills are also underway as authorities investigate suspected irregularities in the procurement, milling and delivery of CMR rice to the government. Further official details are awaited regarding the exact quantity of grain or rice found missing, the people responsible and the next course of action.
