Chief Minister Vijay made a key announcement in the Assembly, stating that the decision to construct a second airport at Parandur would be withdrawn. The proposal had been introduced by the previous government, but the current administration has decided to reconsider and scrap the plan. The announcement has triggered discussions across Tamil Nadu, particularly among residents and groups that had been protesting against the proposed airport.
CM Vijay also expressed support for those who had opposed the airport project and staged protests in Parandur. He emphasised that people’s views and interests should be taken into consideration while planning major development projects. By withdrawing the airport proposal, the government has sought to address the concerns raised by local residents and protesters.
