The Andhra Pradesh Government is set to strengthen maternal and child healthcare by launching the ‘Thalli–Bidda Express’ transport service. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inspected the newly introduced vehicles at the CM Camp Office in Amaravati. He reviewed the vehicle design, safety standards, special facilities for mothers and newborns, and the branding created to improve public awareness before approving the final designs.
As part of the initiative, 500 specially equipped SUV/MUV vehicles will be deployed across the state. The service will provide free transportation for women who deliver in government hospitals, their newborn babies, and attendants to reach home safely. It will also assist high-risk pregnant women and those suffering from severe anaemia in travelling to hospitals for medical check-ups. The scheme is expected to benefit around 2.75 lakh mothers every year.
