Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the ongoing search operations for eight fishermen from Odalarevu, Dummalapeta and Vasalatippa villages in Allavaram mandal of B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, who went missing at sea along with their fishing boat. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the boat left the Odalarevu jetty at around 10 am on August 3 for fishing, and the fishermen remained in contact with their families by phone until around 11 am. No further communication was received after that. The boat was expected to return by August 12, but it failed to arrive, prompting authorities to launch special search operations. Officials also said the boat had a VHF set and the fishermen were carrying mobile phones.
CM Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to intensify the search until the missing boat and fishermen are traced. Coast Guard vessels have been alerted and search operations are underway, while fishing boats from Kakinada, Bhairavapalem, Visakhapatnam and Paradip have also been alerted to help gather information. The Chief Minister instructed officials to remain in constant contact with the fishermen’s families and keep them updated on the search efforts. He stressed the need for close coordination between the Coast Guard, Fisheries Department and district administration, and directed authorities to use every available resource to ensure the fishermen’s safe return. He also assured the families that the government would stand by them.
