CM Chandrababu Reviews Gollaguppa Incident

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the incident in Gollaguppa village of Polavaram district, where several people reportedly fell ill after being administered chloroquine tablets for malaria prevention. Officials informed the Chief Minister that medicines were distributed to 71 people in the village. Of those who fell ill, 29 were shifted to the Bhadrachalam Area Hospital for treatment, while another 24 are receiving treatment at the Lakshmipuram PHC. A medical camp was set up in the village immediately after the incident came to light, and medical examinations were conducted.

The Chintur ITDA PO, ASP and other officials visited the Bhadrachalam hospital to assess the condition of the affected people. Officials told the Chief Minister that the patients are currently in stable condition and that reports of two deaths are not true. A nine-member medical team has already been sent from Kakinada GGH, while three more special teams from Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada have been dispatched, Collector Dinesh said. CM Chandrababu directed officials to provide the best possible treatment to the affected people and conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the incident.
