Ratna Singh, head of the legal affairs wing of CJP, has expressed concern over the scheduled court appearance of party members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. Their judicial custody is due to end today, and the two are scheduled to be produced before the newly appointed Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) at 2 PM. Singh said she hoped the proceedings would begin on time and take place without any further delays.
Singh also referred to alleged obstacles during previous proceedings, including an investigating officer being unreachable for hours, threatening messages, a delayed hearing and a reported tyre puncture that could potentially prevent the two from being produced on time. Expressing hope that such issues would not recur, she ended her statement with a pointed remark that there should be no more “orders from above.” Her comments highlight the legal team's concerns about possible delays as Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka await the next stage of their case.
