Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has announced that the party will not organise any protests across the country until Diwali. He urged young supporters to celebrate the festive season peacefully with their families. According to Dipke, the ongoing youth-led protests demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) have caused concern among their family members. He said that his own family, along with the families of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh, who are currently in judicial custody, were also worried about the situation. Against this backdrop, the party has decided to pause its protest activities until Diwali, allowing its supporters and their families to celebrate the festival without additional stress.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan is set to witness the burning of an additional effigy this Dussehra. Along with the traditional effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Indrajit, a 30-foot cockroach effigy will also be set ablaze. The Ramlila Committee said the initiative is part of the Swachh Bharat and Swachh Delhi campaigns, with the cockroach representing dirt and unhygienic conditions. Reacting to the development, Dipke thanked the organisers for giving his party free publicity. The planned burning has added an unusual political angle to this year’s Dussehra celebrations in the national capital.
