CJP Leaders Head to Delhi Over EC Row

CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka have cancelled their scheduled commitments and announced that they are heading to Delhi amid the latest controversy surrounding the Election Commission. Ranka said the three leaders would hold an important press conference in Delhi at 12 PM, with the organisation shifting its immediate focus to the Election Commission and voting rights. He also posted a pointed message addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The announcement follows a report by The Indian Express stating that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had recorded at least 14 objections over decisions taken by the poll panel during the past 10 months. The reported concerns involved voter registration, electoral rolls and the Special Intensive Revision exercise. The Election Commission has said the recorded notes were suggestions and maintained that key decisions were taken unanimously.
