Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has reportedly declined a meeting request from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, who sought his intervention in the ‘vote chori’ controversy. Opposition parties have demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the scrapping of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and a return to paper ballots. The leaders have raised concerns over the electoral process and are seeking action on their demands.
As part of their intensified protest, Opposition parties have announced plans to march to the Supreme Court on Monday under the banner ‘Chalo Delhi – March for Democracy’. The proposed march is intended to highlight their concerns over electoral transparency and voter-list revisions. The Opposition’s demands include changes to the current revision process and the restoration of paper ballots.
