Chandrababu Reviews Flood Situation.. Orders Relief Measures and New Barrage Proposals

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the heavy rainfall and flood situation in the state, with particular focus on North Andhra, during a teleconference with Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and senior officials. Authorities briefed him on waterlogging in residential areas, crop inundation, river flows and rehabilitation measures in affected locations. The Chief Minister directed officials to remain alert and ensure timely assistance to people in flood-affected areas. Recent heavy rains have increased inflows into several rivers and reservoirs across the state.

Chandrababu also directed officials to provide 50 kg of rice free of cost to fishing families who have been unable to venture into the sea for the past five days. He reviewed reservoir inflows and instructed officials to speed up the process of providing electricity to the Heera Mandal lift project so that the works can be completed and Vamsadhara water can be diverted into the reservoir. He further called for advancing earlier proposals for constructing barrages below Pulichintala and upstream of Prakasam Barrage and sending the proposals to the Centre. Officials also informed him that the recent rains had reduced the state’s rainfall deficit from 50% to 31%.
