Chandrababu Naidu Welcomes EC’s SIR Clarification

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed the Election Commission’s clarification that decisions related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls were taken unanimously by the full Commission. In a post on X, Naidu said the joint clarification by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had put an end to misconceptions surrounding the voter-list revision process.

Naidu said the SIR-related decisions were taken collectively while following institutional procedures. He described the Election Commission’s clarification as an affirmation of the credibility of constitutional institutions and said attempts to undermine public confidence in the democratic and electoral process for short-term political gains were unfortunate. He also stressed that respecting constitutional institutions and maintaining public trust in India’s democratic process is a collective responsibility of leaders across political parties.
