Chandrababu Announces Expansion of Stree Shakti Scheme

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made a key announcement on free bus travel for women under the Stree Shakti scheme. At present, women can travel free of cost on Pallevelugu, Express and City Ordinary buses. The government will soon purchase new AC buses and extend the free travel facility to women on those services as well, the Chief Minister said.

The new AC buses are expected to be introduced specifically for women, and the service will be rolled out fully once the buses reach the depots. However, the Stree Shakti scheme will not apply to Super Luxury, interstate and Tirumala Sapthagiri buses. The expansion to AC buses is expected to provide women with an additional public transport option under the scheme.
