The Central Government has introduced key amendments to drug regulations to curb the sale of counterfeit and substandard medicines across the country. As part of the revised rules, the scope of Schedule H2 has been expanded, bringing more medicines under stricter regulatory monitoring to enhance patient safety.

Under the new regulations, all medicines covered under Schedule H2 must carry a QR code or barcode on their packaging. This measure will help verify the authenticity of medicines, improve supply chain tracking, and reduce the circulation of fake drugs. The government said the decision aims to ensure that consumers receive safe and high-quality medicines.
