Centre Grants In-Principle Approval for ₹496.86 Crore Warangal Mamnoor Airport Project

The Central Government has granted in-principle approval for the development of Warangal Mamnoor Airport with an estimated project cost of ₹496.86 crore, including GST. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol shared the information in a written reply to a question raised by Rajya Sabha member Vem Narender Reddy. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already floated tenders for the construction of the runway, apron, taxiway and boundary wall. The government stated that the project's completion timeline will depend on land acquisition, statutory clearances, funding and other local factors.

The Centre also updated Parliament on the progress of proposed airports in Adilabad, Peddapalli and Bhadradri Kothagudem. A techno-economic feasibility study has been completed for Adilabad, while a preliminary feasibility report for the proposed Greenfield Airport at Peddapalli has been submitted to the Telangana Government. However, the proposed site in Bhadradri Kothagudem was found unsuitable due to geographical and infrastructure constraints. The government further informed that 58 air routes have been operationalised in Telangana under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme and that the next phase aims to connect 120 new destinations across India.
