The Central Government has announced that the newly introduced VBG Ramji Scheme will come into effect from July 1, replacing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The Ministry of Rural Development issued an official notification stating that the scheme will be implemented across all states and Union Territories from the scheduled date.
The Centre clarified that workers will continue to receive employment without any interruption under the new scheme. Existing job cards issued under MGNREGS will remain valid until new cards are issued, provided e-KYC has been completed. Even workers with pending e-KYC will be provided employment opportunities. The government also stated that registration for new job cards will continue at gram panchayats, while detailed guidelines regarding wages, grievance redressal, and operational procedures will be issued soon after consultations with states and Union Territories.
