A central technical team is scheduled to visit Telangana on September 7 to examine the proposal for setting up an airport in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced the development after meeting Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi. Since two sites examined earlier were found unsuitable on technical grounds, the authorities have identified four to five alternative locations. The central team will conduct field-level inspections to assess geographical conditions, weather factors and the overall technical feasibility of constructing an airport.
Tummala Nageswara Rao said the Union Minister had assured that further steps for the Kothagudem airport would be taken after receiving a favourable technical report. He also highlighted the importance of the region, including the presence of the famous Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam, and conveyed the district's long-standing demand for better air connectivity. The minister added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy may discuss the proposals for Mamnoor and Adilabad airports with the Central government on September 2.
