The CBI’s Hyderabad Range has launched an investigation into alleged irregularities in the purchase of medicines at Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) centres. A case has been registered against Larven Pharma, its owner Ramanaiah, assistant manager Venugopal, Newass Medicals and its medical representative Chiranjeevi, along with CGHS employees Sharavanan, YLN Murthy, Ponnala Mahesh and Krishnamurthy.
According to CBI officials, the preliminary inquiry found that unnecessary medicines were allegedly purchased in bulk, resulting in large commission payments. The officials suspect that CGHS employees had the commissions deposited into their bank accounts and that suspicious transactions were identified in their accounts. Based on these findings, the CBI registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation.
