Cabinet Takes Key Decision on Rabi Crop MSPs

The Union Cabinet has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for six mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season. Safflower received the highest hike of ₹675 per quintal, followed by rapeseed and mustard at ₹413. The MSP for lentil was raised by ₹390, barley by ₹136, gram by ₹83 and wheat by ₹25 per quintal.

Following the revision, the MSP for wheat has been fixed at ₹2,610 per quintal, gram at ₹5,958, lentil at ₹7,390, rapeseed and mustard at ₹6,613, safflower at ₹7,215 and barley at ₹2,286. The government said the move is aimed at providing remunerative prices to farmers and encouraging crop diversification.
