A brucellosis outbreak has been reported at the Banavasi semen production centre in Emmiganur mandal of Kurnool district, causing concern among animal husbandry officials. The disease has been detected in livestock as well as two contract workers, raising alarm over potential spread within the facility.
Officials confirmed that eight cattle housed in the semen bank tested positive for brucellosis. To prevent further transmission, infected animals have been shifted to an isolated shed, while preventive measures have been intensified. The two affected workers have also been temporarily relieved from duties as a precautionary step.
