A major defence manufacturing project is likely to come up in Telangana, with plans underway to establish a BrahMos missile production unit in the Palamuru region. As part of the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, the Defence Ministry has already set up a BrahMos manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh. Now, efforts are being made to establish a second unit, and Telangana has emerged as a strong contender for the project.
Reports suggest that the proposed facility may be set up in Devarakadra constituency of Mahabubnagar district. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reportedly requested the BrahMos team to consider Telangana for the project and offered the required land. After surveying the identified site, the team is said to have expressed satisfaction with its strategic location, proximity to Hyderabad Airport, and connectivity to National Highway-44. The state government is now seeking final approvals for the project.
