Mumbai Police have stepped up security after a bomb threat email was received at the office of Mayor Ritu Tawde. The message reportedly warned of a possible blast at the mayor’s office and also named Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh as potential targets. Security personnel searched the mayor’s office at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters, but no suspicious objects were found. Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi was also reportedly mentioned in the threats.
The threatening email reportedly warned of a grenade attack on a school on October 31 and an attack on Amitabh Bachchan’s Juhu residence, Jalsa, between October 31 and November 27. It also allegedly threatened Diljit Dosanjh’s concert scheduled for November 27 at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai. Police and security agencies are investigating the origin of the messages and working to identify the sender. The credibility of the threats has not yet been officially established.
