The BJP has made serious allegations against Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The party alleged that she was running a syndicate through intermediaries to settle rape cases by demanding large sums of money. BJP leaders claimed that ₹5 crore was allegedly demanded for each case. BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari also alleged that the audio clips raise questions about whether Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was personally involved in facilitating such settlements.
The BJP further claimed that former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Justice Ranjit Singh had previously made similar allegations against Gurpreet Kaur. According to the allegations, she had demanded ₹5 crore to favour an accused in a rape case. Neither Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann nor the Aam Aadmi Party has so far responded to these serious allegations. With Punjab assembly elections scheduled for next year, the claims have become a major political talking point
